Pool Financing…Come on In the Water is Fine
During the widespread economic decline between 2006 and 2008, pool financing was risky for both homeowners and lenders. Typically, many pool buyers were new homeowners, so a drop in home values and accelerated foreclosures caused stalled and sluggish home improvements.
Lenders were also forced to use economic restraint since loans were structured upon falling home values and pools; hence pools earned the unfortunate stigma of being a bad investment.
In 2012, with the housing market seeing some legitimate signs of stabilization and lenders becoming more aware of the strength within the pool financing market; Lyon Financial is still consistently providing pool financing. The rates may be a little higher in some circumstances, but they are based on the credit worthiness of the actual borrower, not on the property’s real estate assessment. Now opportunity for pool ownership exists more on personal merit instead of outside economics. An altered benchmark for loan assessment and procurement has allowed an overall increase in loans.
Lyon Financial has continuously championed the worth of pool financing as a solid investment. By leveraging industry professionals and streamlined processes, our financing approvals are typically turned around within a twenty-four hour period. Once that loan is approved, the job can get underway!
This year alone:
Lyon Financial has processed over $100 million in pool loans and continues to see a steady increase in volume in fourteen states
In 2013, pool financing expansion is expected to include other regions, reaching out to all 50 states
Lyon’s financing opportunities have expanded lending beyond gunite and fiberglass pool installation to include luxury spas and a wide variety of outdoor living products for an improved outdoor experience
Pool owners enjoy an enhanced lifestyle just by being outdoors in the fresh air. Fun in the sun is a much healthier alternative to being glued to a plasma screen! The companionship of family and friends in the casual and relaxed environment of a pool often enhances relationships and creates lasting memories.
The future is bright for Lyon Financial and for prospective and existing pool owners. Call us at 877-754-5966 with any questions about a pool financing package that will suit your needs!

Pools: Many Shapes, Many Styles
One of the most fun things about having a pool in your home is that there are so many varieties from which to choose. There was a time when residential pool designs didn’t really lend themselves to creative indulgence. Most pools came in one style: rectangular. But contemporary pool designs offer everything from spa to tropical to resort-style, so you can express your unique personality and craft the optimum setting for fun and relaxation.
Perhaps you’d prefer a naturalistic look for your new pool. In that case, your best bet might be a freeform pool, which is typically a lagoon-style pool. Lagoon-style pools mimic an oasis and often feature rock formations. Or, perhaps you’re into the ultra-modern style—you want your pool to be a little more techno-chic with clean lines. In that case, you might go for a negative edge pool, which is also sometimes called an infinity edge pool. It creates an illusion that makes it look like the pool extends out into the horizon.
If, on the other hand, you’re getting a pool because you’re into fitness, then your ideal choice might be a lap pool. This type of pool is what Olympic swimmers use in both training and competition. Lap pools are narrow and very long—often more than 50 feet! Another sporting pool is the diving pool, which features a diving board or a platform. Diving pools are typically 8.5 feet in depth.
Some of us might not want anything too fancy or sporty. Maybe you’re just looking for a recreational pool for your family and friends to enjoy. In that case, you can get what is known as a play pool. Play pools are great for lounging, playing volleyball, swimming short laps, or just having fun. Popular shapes of play pools include kidney, riva, and capri.
The other elements that give pool and spa designs their individuality are the types of plantings and vegetation that frame them. Your choice of pool furniture also adds a splash of style that can be changed up at any time by swapping out lounge chair cushions. Pool design, pool landscaping and pool furniture are the fashion elements that showcase your concept of relaxation.

Who doesn’t love a pool? There’s nothing better than a dip on a hot summer day to refresh and reinvigorate. Pools provide hours of fun for weekend picnics and lazy summer days. But amidst all this fun, it’s important to stay safe.
Here are a few simple pool safety tips to keep in mind this summer season:
Most importantly, never leave young children alone near water, not even with other children; not even for just a second.
If a child is missing, always look first in the pool. Seconds count!
Install child safety gates to make the pool or spa area safe for children, young visiting guests and even new pets. Anything that will delay the entry of unsupervised children or pets.
Fences should be at least four feet high with self-closing, self-latching gates. Make sure they are well maintained throughout the summer and throughout the year.
Keep toys out of the water so a child is not tempted to go closer to the pool.
Consider enrolling you and your child in a water safety class.
Remember that inflatable toys cannot be trusted as a safety device.
Always keep a phone by the pool.
Do not allow wheeled toys (like tricycles) by the pool.
Look before you leap! If you or your child is not familiar with a pool, never dive until you are 100% sure of its depth.
Use non-slip materials on the pool deck, diving board and ladder.
Experts agree it is best to use more than one safety method to increase the likelihood of keeping a child away from danger.
Never swim alone.
Whenever a young child is in or around the water, an adult should be within arm's reach.
Contaminants are always entering the water: from swimmers, air pollutants, pollen, etc. -- vacuum often and keep the water clear from debris.
Follow these simple tips and no doubt you will have a relaxing and safe summer season!
